What an unforgettable Midsummer celebration and 150th Anniversary of the Finnish Seamen’s Mission we had on Sat 21st June 2025!
We were thrilled to welcome around 300 guests to celebrate with us — to reconnect with old friends and make new ones, enjoy the sauna, take part in our quiz, play mökkitikka, craft flower crowns, admire the art exhibition, listen to music, dance, reminisce about decades of events at the Merimieskirkko, and savour delicious Midsummer treats.
Throughout the day, 159 sausages, 75 muurikkalettu pancakes, 51 Karelian pies, and 29 slices of Brita cake disappeared into happy bellies!
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! And a very special thank you to the incredible team of people who helped plan, prepare, and bring this celebration to life in so many ways. It is truly a privilege to be part of this amazing Finnish community in UK — one that continues the 150-year legacy of the Finnish Seamen’s Mission in its own meaningful way.
